Japanese-style Chicken Wings

Ingredients

600 g chicken wings
120 g asparagus, cut into sections

Sauce

1/3 cup sake
3 tbsp Japanese soy sauce
1/3 cup mirin
1/4 cup water

Method

  1. Rinse chicken and blanch in boiling water for 2 to 3 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. Cook asparagus in boiling water until done.
  3. Add sauce ingredients to a skillet. Bring to a boil. Add wings and toss briefly. Turn down heat and cook, covered, for about 15 minutes. Remove cover and continue to cook until most of the sauce is absorbed.
  4. Add asparagus and toss to combine. Remove and serve hot.
