Chinese-style Pan-fried Beef Tenderloin


250 g beef tenderloin, cut into 1-cm thick pieces
1/2 onion, shredded


1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tbsp water
1 tbsp light soy sauce
1/2 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp oil


1 tbsp water
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp OK sauce
1 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce


  1. Pound the beef with a meat mallet. Mix beef with marinade and set aside for 30 minutes.
  2. Mix the sauce ingredients in a bowl. Set aside.
  3. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan, saute onion until fragrant. Remove.
  4. Heat 2 tbsp oil in the pan, fry beef until half cooked. Remove.
  5. Add sauce to the pan. Cook until it thickens.
  6. Return beef and onion to the pan. Toss to combine. Serve hot.
