Chinese-style Pork Ribs with Orange Sauce


400 g sweet and sour cut pork ribs
1/2 orange


1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
2 tsp ginger juice
1 tbsp cornstarch


1 tbsp orange liqueur
1/4 cup orange juice
2 tsp cornstarch
2 cups peanut oil or canola oil


  1. Cut ribs between the bones into pieces.
  2. Mix ribs with marinade and set aside for 1 hour.
  3. Heat 2 cups of peanut oil in a wok and fry the ribs for one minute. Remove from heat. Keep the ribs in oil for 3 minutes, then remove them.
  4. Heat the oil again and return the ribs to fry for another minute. Remove and drain the oil on kitchen towel.
  5. Heat the wok and add one tablespoon of oil. Add the sauce ingredients and bring to the boil. Add the ribs and stir-fry over high heat to coat with the sauce. Remove and serve hot.
